A Leon County judge is weighing whether to require changes to the ballot language for Amendment 3, the proposed constitutional amendment that would significantly expand Florida’s homestead tax exemption.
David Frank heard arguments Wednesday in lawsuits alleging the measure’s title and summary use misleading language designed to sway voters, while state attorneys argued the wording fairly explains the proposal. Frank ordered final briefs by Monday as election officials prepare November ballots following the Aug. 18 Primary Election. Even if he rules against the ballot language, the amendment would remain on the ballot, with the Attorney General authorized to rewrite the title and summary if necessary.
